Registration for our 2025 Basketball League through Colby Recreation is now Open. Cost per player is $45 and includes all equipment provided by Colby Rec. This year we will be offering leagues in the following divisions: 

1st-2nd Grade Boys
1st-2nd Grade Girls
3rd-4th Grade Boys
3rd-4th Grade Girls
5th-6th Grade Boys
5th-6th Grade Girls

Registration Deadline: October 6th
Coaches Meeting: Wednesday, October 15th , 5:30pm @ Colby Event Center
Practices Begin: Week of October 20th
Games Begin: Saturday, November 8th 

If you are wanting to coach, please mark on the registration that you are interested in coaching. There are coach request forms available at the office in the event center that will need to be filled out and turned in. You can turn this in in person at the Event Center or you can email/scan it to us (recreation@cityofcolbyks.gov). If you are wanting to coach then this form must be turned in. We will have a coach meeting on October 15 with the 1-2 grade at 5:30, the 3-4 grade at 6:00 pm, and the 5-6 grade at 6:30 pm. We will try and schedule as many games for Saturdays as we can. November and December are extremely busy in the months of November and December so we may have to get creative with some game dates. We are wanting to have the schedule finalized by the end of October to give families adequate time to make arrangements for games. With scheduling always an issue at the Event Center in the winter months we may have to utilize the High School or Grade School for some games like in years past. 

Team Forming & Out of Town Teams 

If you are a Colby registered player you will be placed on a Colby team formed by our Rec Department. Our staff does our best to ensure these teams are as even as possible. Friend requests are taken into consideration but not guaranteed. If you are coaching it is understood you will get your child on your team, as well as your assistant coaches’ child. There is a max of TWO coaches per team (If you both have children registered in the program) If you have three coaches wanting to team up it is encouraged, we break that off into two separate teams. If you are an out-of-town team wanting to come over, we ask that you build teams only from your community and are not stacking multiple towns together to come down and play. I know we have several smaller communities in the northwest Kansas area so if you have questions on this please ask me. If you have enough from your neighboring community to bring over two teams, we ask that you split these teams up as evenly as possible, just like we do with our Colby teams. Out of town teams will need to submit a roster as well as the coach request form. Out of town teams need to have each player sign up individually through our Civic Rec system so we can have their contact info as well as shirt size. All out of town teams will receive uniforms just like our Colby teams will.
